Dr. Hon H. Ho

Dr. Ho is currently Professor of Biology at the State University of New York at New Paltz. He received his B.Sc. degree in Botany from the University of Hong Kong in 1963 and Ph.D. degree in Botany from the University of Western Ontario, Canada in 1966. After staying on as a Post-doctoral Fellow for one year, he joined the Department of Botany & Bacteriology at Ohio Wesleyan University as Assistant Professor in 1967 before moving to SUNY New Paltz in 1968. He became Professor of biology in 1979 and served as the department chair for 16 years. He was a visiting professor at the University of California at Riverside, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, Nanjing Agricultural University in Nanjing, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Science in Hainan and Academia Sinica in Taipei.He has received a second prize from the National Educational Council of China in 1992, State University of New York Chancellor’s Award of Excellence in Scholarship in 2013 and Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

He has published 106 papers and 2 monographs (one in print), with emphasis on Phytophthora and  Pythium.
